Central Mali is reeling from a fresh wave of violence, with at least 26 people killed last week in a series of coordinated assaults by armed groups.
The attacks, which targeted several villages in the Bandiagara region, have been claimed by JNIM (Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims), an al-Qaeda-affiliated organization.
In response, the Malian army reported neutralizing around a dozen militants in the area. Despite these efforts, the security situation remains precarious, with local communities bearing the brunt of the violence.
