The Minority in Ghana’s Parliament is pressing the government for explanations concerning the deaths reported during the recent 2024 general election.

At least three individuals lost their lives during the elections and its aftermath, adding to the eight fatalities recorded in the 2020 polls.

In response, the Ministry of Defense stated that the government had no direct role in election security, suggesting that the Minority direct their concerns to the head of the Election Security Taskforce, Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare.

The call for accountability comes amid growing public scrutiny over election-related violence and the need for comprehensive reforms to safeguard citizens during future polls.
