In Mali, the Supreme Court’s Public Prosecutor has disclosed that the country has lost an estimated 80 billion CFA Francs to high-profile economic and financial crimes over the past three years, from 2021 to 2024.
The staggering revelation highlights a dozen cases involving forgery and other financial malpractices. At least 40 individuals, including former ministers and their accomplices, have been implicated in these crimes.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to address corruption and recover lost funds, with the prosecutor calling for robust judicial action to hold offenders accountable and deter future offences.
