The Press Publishers and Broadcasters Council (CDEPS) in Senegal has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court to annul orders from the Minister of Communication concerning the publication of a list of media outlets compliant with the Press Code.
The provisional list, which recognizes 112 press companies, has been labeled by CDEPS as an abuse of power and a threat to press freedom. Press leaders argue that the move undermines independent journalism and restricts media diversity.
This legal challenge highlights ongoing tensions between the government and media stakeholders over press regulation.
