Agnes E.J. Thomasi

Manager

Over 25 years of expertise in media and communications.

Her career journey spans pivotal roles at Radio Gambia now part of the Gambia Radio and Television Services, Gambia Family Planning Association, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), The Gambia Public/Private Sector Capacity Building Project (GICAP) at the country’s Ministry of Trade and significant contributions as a consultant at international institutions like UNESCO’s Africa regional office in Dakar.

Agnes’s diverse skill set encompasses Multimedia production (Radio, Newspaper, photojournalism, video production) leading advocacy campaigns, Project design and implementation, Capacity Building and Mentoring of journalists and other team members, Development and Implementation of Media Campaigns with experience in managing donor-funded media and communications programs amongst others.

She holds degrees from renowned institutions worldwide, including a B.A and Masters in Communications.

Oumoul Khayri Niane Sow

HEAD OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE

Oumoul Khayri Niane is an auditor-accountant with a degree from the African Center for Higher Studies in Management (CESAG).

She has over 20 years of experience in auditing, finance, and administration, gained through working with accounting firms and projects such as USAID. She has played key roles in financial management and auditing over the years.

Oumoul also possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, which have been valuable in her career.

Her expertise spans financial analysis, compliance, and organizational management, making her a highly skilled professional in her field. She continues to contribute to financial oversight and strategic planning.

Sanni M. Moumouni Seibou

COORDINATOR OF PROGRAMMES

Mouhamane Sanni Moumouni Seibou is a Beninese journalist specializing in security, economic, and political issues.

He began his career in 2003 with an internship at Solidarité FM in Djougou, Northwestern Benin, where he worked for 10 years.

In 2010, he joined Agence Bénin Presse. In 2014, he earned a Specialized Diploma in Journalism and Communication from CESTI at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar.

He later worked at Benin Radio and TV Station (ORTB) before joining WADR in January 2020, where he coordinates news and programming.

He is currently completing a Master’s in Media and Communication, specializing in organizational communication.

Abdullahi Hassan

COORDINATOR OF PROGRAMMES

Abdullahi Hassan is the Programmes Coordinator at West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR), which he joined in 2019 after several years as Head of the English Service. His career began in 2005 at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where he worked as a film editor as well as an assistant producer and director.

In 2008, he joined Aso Radio and Television Services, now known as Abuja Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), where he held various positions, including news anchor, producer and radio presenter, senior film editor, and director.

He has also completed several professional trainings to sharpen his media skills, notably at the prestigious TV College Jos, the National Film Institute (NFI), and the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), all in Nigeria.

Emediong Francis Boniface

WEBMASTER /HEAD OF DIGITAL DEPARTMENT

Emediong Francis Boniface is a digital media specialist with a strong background in digital transformation and digital journalism.

With expertise in web development, content creation, and digital marketing, Emediong has worked across diverse areas of digital communication.

He helps brands and organizations leverage technology to enhance their online presence and streamline operations.

As Head of the Digital Department at WADR, he shapes the organization’s digital strategy and growth, applying hands-on experience and versatility to deliver impactful solutions in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a Master’s degree in Digital Transformation, and a Diploma in Internet Journalism.

Itohoimo Uduak Edet

JOURNALIST /PRODUCER /ENGLISH DESK SUPERVISOR

Itohoimo Edet, known as Imoh, is a journalist, producer, and supervisor of the English desk at WADR, where he also serves as assistant partnerships officer.

Before joining WADR, he was a lead presenter at Roots TV Nigeria and headed the business desk at Nigeria Info FM and Cool FM Abuja.

With over 19 years of experience in both broadcast and print media, Imoh brings a wide range of expertise.

He holds a degree in Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and another from the University of Uyo. He is also pursuing an advanced certificate in strategy at the University of the People.

Maodo Diouf

head of TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT

Maodo Diouf is currently the Head of the Technical Department.

He is an audiovisual engineer with training from Carthage Pictures and SAE Institute in audiovisual and cinematography.

Maodo has worked with various television, radio, and broadcasting and production houses, including Dakar TV International, RTF, Arc en Sons, BENCOM Production, EXCAF Télécom, and Malika TV.

His experience spans across different roles, contributing significantly to the technical and production processes in these media organizations.

His expertise in audiovisual engineering and cinematography has made him a valuable asset in the broadcasting industry.

Alpha Aboubacar

JOURNALIST /DEPUTY EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Alpha Aboubacar Ascofare is currently a Journalist/Producer with WADR.

A graduate of the Centre d’Études des Sciences et Techniques de l’Information (CESTI) in Dakar, Alpha began his career as an intern and progressed to the position of producer.

He is also the French desk sports producer, though his role encompasses a wide range of journalistic and production tasks.

His expertise and commitment to delivering quality content in various areas have made him a key member of the WADR team.

Alpha’s diverse skill set contributes significantly to the station’s success in broadcasting.

William Ndala

PROJECT ASSISTANT /MONITORING & EVALUATION

William Ndala is an expert in statistical analysis and economic modeling with a degree in Statistical Works Engineering from the National School of Statistics and Economic Analysis (ENSAE) in Dakar.

He is the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR), developing frameworks to assess program impact on democracy in West Africa.

Previously, he coordinated economic and statistical analysis projects at the Bureau of Economic Prospective in Senegal.

William is also a freelance coach and trainer, specializing in Microsoft Excel and statistical software, helping individuals master data analysis and visualization.

Sankulleh Janko

Journalist

Sankulleh Gibril Janko is a Gambian journalist and correspondent for West Africa Democracy Radio in Dakar, Senegal.

A graduate of the University of The Gambia, he began his career in 2014 with West Coast Radio and has contributed to Block TV and The Point Newspaper.

Janko has received multiple awards, including Radio Journalist of the Year in 2018 and Foreign News Media Correspondent of the Year.

In 2022, he was recognized in the Reporting on Migration Competition for West and Central Africa. His work focuses on regional affairs and shaping public discourse in West Africa.

Demba Amar Anne

Journalist

Demba Amar Anne is a Senegalese Journalist working at West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR).

He initially studied Biology before earning a degree in Journalism and Communication from the Centre d’Études des Sciences et Techniques de l’Information (CESTI) in Dakar in November 2022.

Demba began his journalism career in 2020 with a two-month internship at Bambilor FM, a community radio station.

In 2021, he gained further experience during a two-month internship at 7TV, a private Senegalese television station.

His background in both radio and television has equipped him with diverse skills in news reporting and media production.

Moustapha Diakhité

JOURNALIST

Moustapha Diakhité is a journalist with a degree in Journalism and Communication from the Centre d’Études des Sciences et Techniques de l’Information (CESTI) in Dakar.

He began his career as a trainee journalist at West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) before securing a more permanent role.

Prior to joining WADR, he gained experience at various media organizations, including Radio Communautaire Afia FM, Time For Africa magazine, the Senegalese daily EnQuête, and Radio Futurs Médias.

His work spans print, radio, and digital journalism, making him a versatile media professional with a strong background in news reporting and storytelling.

Augustine Kolie

Journalist

Augustine Bill Kollie is a seasoned Liberian journalist and Assistant Producer at West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) in Dakar, Senegal.

He began his career in 2010 at Radio Bomi 98.9, a community station in Western Liberia, where he spent six years. He later joined OK FM 99.5 in Monrovia as a reporter, becoming Chief Editor in 2020 and News Director in 2022.

Augustine holds a B.A. in Mass Communication from the African Methodist Episcopal University and has received specialized training from the U.S. Embassy Monrovia, the European Union, OSIWA, and the Liberian Red Cross Society.

Mame Anta Ndour

Journalist

Mame Anta Ndour holds a professional degree in Information and Documentation Sciences from the School of Librarians, Archivists and Documentalists (EBAD) at UCAD. She went on to complete a Master’s in Information and Communication Sciences at the Institute of Information and Communication Sciences (ISSIC). As part of her academic training, she undertook a one-month internship at the daily newspaper L’As.

She has worked as a journalist-reporter, serving as Head of the Culture Desk at Rewmi FM radio and later as a reporter with the Walfadjri media group. She also gained brief professional experience in telesales as a customer advisor in the retention department of the French internet provider SFR at Intelcia-Dakar. Before joining WADR, she worked as a web content writer at the digital communication agency Senegal Leads, a subsidiary of the French group Futur Digitale.

Mamouna Fofana

Journalist

Radio and television journalist, presenter, and reporter, Maimouna Fofana began her professional career in 2010.

In 2012, she joined the pan-African television channel Africa 7, then Safina FM, before working at the pan-African radio station Convergence FM.

In her pursuit of a stimulating editorial experience, Maimouna Fofana also worked at Rewmi FM as the morning show presenter and later at RDV as a reporter.

In 2021, she joined Capital Médias (Radio Sénégal FM), where she held the position of newsroom coordinator.

In 2023, Maimouna Fofana became part of the editorial team at Financial Afrik and contributed to the Financial Afrik Radio project as a journalist and presenter.

Christopher Atitso

Journalist

Christopher Atitso is a Ghanaian broadcast journalist and Assistant Producer at West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR), with about seven years of experience in the field.

He embodies dynamism, charisma, humility, and teamwork. Before joining WADR, he worked with several media organizations in Ghana, including Class Media Group (CMG), TV Africa, and the state broadcaster, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

Christopher believes the media is a powerful tool for amplifying the voices of the marginalized while fostering social growth and cohesion.

His passion for journalism drives him to produce impactful stories that inform, educate, and inspire positive change in society.

Cheikh Ndiaye

Community Manager

Cheikh Ndiaye is a journalist who graduated from the Centre for the Study of Information Science and Technology (CESTI).

Passionate about digital journalism, he joined the West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) team as an intern in the Digital department and currently holds the position of Community Manager.

Before joining WADR, Cheikh completed two internships at the Senegalese Press Agency (APS) in 2022 and 2023.

His experience at APS, combined with his role at WADR, has further honed his skills in digital journalism and community management.

Oumou Dagnogo

Community Manager

Oumou Dagnogo holds a Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie (DUT) in web development and communication, as well as a  degree in law.

Throughout her career, she has gained valuable experience in communication project management and administrative assistance.

Oumou has worked at AS Agency, where she contributed to various projects, and at ISA CONSEILS, where she provided administrative support and managed communication tasks.

Her diverse background in both law and communication has equipped her with a unique set of skills to navigate the complexities of her role.

Deborah Amuwo

Head of Partnerships

Deborah Amuwo is the Head of Partnerships at West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR). She has nearly a decade of experience in journalism, communication, and partnership development.
 
In 2015, she began her career as a content writer for Twim Studios and The Nzinga Effect before joining WADR in 2017 as a journalist and presenter. She produced and hosted several programs while contributing to editorial work, translation, and digital content management. Between 2021 and 2022 she served as Partnership Officer, supporting the development and implementation of WADR’s partnership initiatives.
 

After her first stint at WADR, Deborah worked with Yango Group for three years as a Customer Support Specialist, providing bilingual (English and French) support across multiple African markets. She managed user communications across in-app and social media platforms.

Deborah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Institut Africain de Management in Dakar and completed training in Migration Reporting with the Robert Bosch Stiftung.

 

Miriam Mukhabi

Project Officer

Miriam Mukhabi is a Kenyan professional with a multifaceted career in executive support, strategic communications, and digital marketing.

She has held leadership and specialist roles across corporate, legal, media, and faith-based sectors, demonstrating versatility and adaptability.

Her expertise includes executive assistance to senior leadership, strategic communication planning, crisis management, digital marketing, public relations, and journalism.

She holds a BA in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication from Daystar University and a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

Miriam is passionate about using communication and strategic support to strengthen stakeholder relationships and amplify development-focused narratives across Africa.

Mame Diarra Niasse

ADMINISTRATIVE/FINANCE ASSISTANT

Mame Diarra is currently an Administrative and Finance Assistant at West Africa Democracy Radio.

After completing her training in Executive Assistance, management, and accounting, she held the position of secretary-receptionist at the same organization.

With seven years of experience in the commercial field, particularly at EDS (Enterprise of Distribution in Senegal) and BARAKA S.A., she was promoted to the position of stock manager at BARAKA S.A.

She also completed computer training at Edicom in Rufisque after studying modern literature for two years at UCAD.

Warella Dorielle Bikiembe Mounguembe

SECRETARY /RECEPTIONIST (INTERN)

Warella Dorielle Bikiembe Mounguembe, a Gabonese national, has been working as a receptionist assistant at WADR since September 2024.

She holds a degree in Marketing Management and Communication from AFI l’université de l’entreprise in Dakar, obtained in 2022.

She also has training in office automation, with BEP and CAP diplomas earned in 2014, as well as a Baccalaureate from Lycée Technique Omar BONGO in Gabon in 2016.

With extensive professional experience as a secretary, management assistant, sales hostess, reception hostess, saleswoman, and customer advisor, Warella is eager to contribute to the WADR team, which has recognized her potential.

Moustapha Seck

Technician

Moustapha Seck is a Senegalese Technician at West Africa Democracy Radio.

He brings extensive experience, having previously worked as a station manager for five years at Excaf Telecom/DTV Sénégal, Dunya FM Dakar 88.9, Le Dakarois 221, and La GTV. He graduated from École des Métiers du Son et de l’Image (EMSI) Sénégal, with a diploma in Sound Engineering Techniques.

Moustapha also worked as a Sound Operator for three years, where he honed his technical skills in audio production. In addition, he has experience as a DJ and Musical Animator, specializing in voiceover and advertising.

His diverse background in the broadcast industry allows him to contribute effectively to various technical and creative tasks.

Ismaïla Camara

Technician

Ismaïla Camara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Communication and a Master’s degree in Digital Communication and Multimedia from Cheikh Hamidou Kane University, formerly Université Virtuelle (UVS).

Passionate about technology and digital media, he joined West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) as an intern in the technical department, where he now works as a sound technician, program operator, and live streamer on the station’s digital platforms.

Before WADR, Ismaïla worked as a freelancer, providing digital services such as web development and e-commerce marketing.

He also completed a three-month internship at SAED (Société nationale d’Aménagement et d’Exploitation des terres du Delta du fleuve Sénégal et des Vallées du fleuve Sénégal et de la Falémé) in the IT unit, where he served as a technician and local network administrator.

Aziz Adam Soule

Correspondent (Benin)

Aziz Adam Soule is a journalist from Benin. He began his radio career in 2009 at Arzèkè FM in Parakou, where he worked as a journalist, reporter, producer, and presenter.

With over ten years of experience, he has worked at several radio and TV stations in Parakou, Natitingou, and Cotonou, including ORTB Parakou as an external collaborator from 2017-2018.

He has also served as editor-in-chief at E-TELE BENIN, Peace FM, IROKO MEDIA TV, and the magazine “DESTINATION AFRIQUE.”

Since January 2025, he has been WADR’s correspondent in Cotonou.

Martin Kaba

Correspondent (Burkina Faso)

Martin Kaba is WADR’s correspondent in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

With years of experience in journalism, he has developed a strong understanding of the region, focusing on providing accurate and insightful reporting.

Martin’s in-depth knowledge of Burkina Faso’s local and regional issues allows him to cover important stories with clarity and integrity.

His work plays a crucial role in ensuring that WADR’s news team delivers reliable information to its audience.

With his experience and commitment, Martin contributes significantly to WADR’s mission of informing and educating the public on critical issues.

Marcel Ariston Blé

Correspondent (Cote d'Ivoire)

Originally from Grand-Bassam and Bonoua (Côte d’Ivoire), Marcel Ariston BLÉ is a versatile journalist working across radio, print, web, and television, with a constant commitment to credible and quality information.

Holder of a BTS in Corporate Communication (2005), he began his career in 2006 with the Olympe press group and private radio stations. In 2013, he joined Radio Nationale Catholique, where he progressed from reporter to presenter. Since 2018, he has also been a correspondent for Vatican Radio while furthering his studies at ISTC-Polytechnique (Bachelor’s in radio journalism, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in television).

Since 2025, he has been the Abidjan correspondent for West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR).

Naa Dedei Tettey

PRODUCER/CORRESPONDENT (GHANA)

Naa Dedei Tettey is a prominent figure in Ghanaian media and WADR’s Ghana Correspondent, Country Representative, and Producer/Presenter of the Gender Programme – 50-50.

She began her career as a volunteer journalist at Radio Univers at the University of Ghana, where she developed her skills in news reporting and hosting.

Naa has worked with notable media outlets such as The Multimedia Group, The Class Media Group, and currently with the EIB Network, hosting shows, anchoring news, and conducting interviews.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and French from the University of Ghana, with certifications from DW Akademie and MFWA.

Sylvie Ouedraogo

correspondent (Togo)

Sylvie Ouedraogo is a young Togolese journalist of Burkinabè origin, graduated in Communication with a specialization in Journalism from ISICA, University of Lomé.

She began her career in 2021 at Afrikelles (web magazine) as a writer.

In 2022, she joined Radio Kanal FM, one of the most listened-to stations in Togo, where she completed her internship before being hired as a journalist, reporter, and presenter.

Passionate about social issues and human rights, she won the first National Media and Human Rights Award in Togo in 2024, recognizing her rigorous work and commitment to social justice.

She joined ADR in March 2025 as the Togo correspondent.

Thierno Alpha Ibrahima Baldé, born in Dakar, is a dedicated Guinean journalist passionate about his craft.
 
He has made significant strides in his field, thanks to his education from Julius Nyerere University in Kankan, Guinea.
 
With a strong foundation in journalism, Thierno brings expertise to his work, ensuring that news coverage is insightful and accurate.
 
He is currently working with West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR), contributing his skills to the organization’s mission.
 
Thierno’s commitment to journalism reflects his drive to inform and engage audiences with reliable information on regional and global issues.

Abraham Parker

Correspondent (Liberia)

Abraham Parker is a Liberian journalist with extensive experience in media and public relations.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from African Methodist Episcopal University and a diploma from Peter QuaQua School of Journalism.

Currently, Abraham serves as a reporter at LOVE FM 105.1 and a freelance correspondent for West Africa Democracy Radio, covering Liberia’s 2023 elections.

His previous roles include Operations Manager, Talk Show Host, and News Editor at Voice of Liberia, and Communications Director at Youth Action for Rural Development.

Abraham is skilled in critical thinking, leadership, and effective communication.

Aliou Thiam

Correspondent (Mali)

Aliou Thiam is a Malian journalist and WADR’s correspondent in Mali.

Born in Diré, located in the Tombouctou region, he is passionate about storytelling and committed to delivering impactful news.

Aliou’s work demonstrates his deep understanding of regional issues and his dedication to highlighting important stories.

His reporting reflects his drive to inform audiences on critical matters affecting Mali and the wider West African region.

Through his contributions, he ensures that key developments are accurately communicated, offering valuable insight into the political and social landscape of Mali.

Usman-Umar

Usman Umar

Correspondent (Nigeria)

Usman Katun Umar is an experienced journalist and media professional with a strong background in mass communication, media management, and broadcasting.

He holds a BSc in Mass Communication and has completed certified training in media management, film, audio-visual editing, and multimedia production.

Currently, Usman serves as a Senior Correspondent and Editor at Abuja Broadcasting Corporation, as well as the Country Representative for West Africa Democracy Radio in Nigeria.

His expertise in media production and management contributes to his impactful role in delivering news and information to audiences across the region.

Mourtala Zoubeirou Akilou

Correspondent (Niger)

Mourtala Zoubeirou Akilou, a graduate of the Higher School of Sciences and Communication (ESSCOM), joined WADR in March 2021 as a correspondent for Niger.

He currently works as a reporter and news presenter at Télévision Ténéré, a private media outlet in Niamey.

Mourtala is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Communication for Development (CPD) at ESSCOM.

His dedication to journalism and continued education reflects his commitment to delivering accurate news and contributing to the development of communication in Niger.

Michael Sedinam Korku Tenu

ASSISTANT COMMUNITY MANAGER (GHANA)

Michael Sedinam Korku Tenu is a media professional with strong skills in social media management and creative design.

He has experience creating engaging content across various online platforms.

Michael uses insights and analytics to make sure his content reaches the right audience and reflects brand values. With a knack for visual storytelling, Michael designs digital content that is clear, appealing, and on-brand.

Known for staying updated with the latest trends, he’s dedicated to building meaningful online experiences that help brands grow and connect with their audiences.

Souleymane Yanga

GRAPHIC DESIGNER (INTERN)

Souleymane Yanga is a graphic designer with a diploma from the SunTech3 Academy and a Higher Technician’s Certificate in Graphic Design, earned in 2021.

Passionate about graphic arts, he joined the West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) team as an intern in the Web department, where he now works as a Graphic Designer.

Prior to WADR, Souleymane began freelancing in 2022, offering design services.

He also completed a nine-month internship at Galima, a company specializing in custom software development, from March to December 2023. His experience spans both freelance work and corporate settings.
