The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced a strike starting December 1, 2024, in regions where the new N70,000 minimum wage has not been implemented. The decision follows a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, where the NLC expressed frustration over the refusal of some state governments to adopt the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act.
The NLC criticized the delays as a “betrayal” amidst growing economic challenges, further heightening tensions between workers and state authorities. This strike reflects the labor union’s determination to secure fair wages for workers.
