Nigeria: Stakeholders urge youth involvement to combat irregular migration

At the inaugural Youth Migration Forum in Abuja, stakeholders emphasized the need for greater youth participation in governance and sustainable development as a strategy to address irregular migration in Nigeria. Hosted by Migration Moment and the May Global Empowerment Initiative, the forum brought together key representatives from the Federal Ministry of Youth Affairs, the National Assembly, and migration-focused organizations to discuss migration challenges facing Nigeria.

Participants highlighted the importance of engaging young people in leadership and economic opportunities, aiming to create pathways that reduce the appeal of unsafe migration routes. This collaborative approach is seen as crucial for building resilience and providing sustainable alternatives for Nigerian youth.
