Corrupt, brutal and unprofessional are the words widely used to describe the conduct of police officers in particular and security operatives in general across West Africa and beyond.
This is despite being trained and swearing an oath to protect and serve.
Populations thus generally have a low regard for the quality of policing on the continent which is today driving the narrative for a better, effective and efficient police force.
