The 81st Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights commenced earlier today in Banjul, in The Gambia.
The meeting brought together representatives from member states, civil society organizations, and human rights advocates.
The session aims to address pressing human rights issues across the continent, with a focus on the promotion and protection of fundamental freedoms.
Human rights advocacy groups Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Global Justice Center and a host of others held a side event on the topic Towards A Crimes Against Humanity Treaty, an Essential Role for African States.

In this Street Parliament segment, our Banjul Correspondent Sankulleh engages three members of the panelists to discuss the state of human rights in Africa.
