On 5 January 2024, Burkina Faso’s Council of Ministers reportedly approved a decree for the introduction of a mandatory 1% withholding tax on the remuneration of public officials and employees in the private sector.
The withholding tax is to be levied for 12 months to fund efforts to fight terrorism and strengthen national security. Parallel to such an instrument, is the voluntary contribution under the patriotic Support Fund known as (PST).
