Tensions have escalated between Mali and Algeria at the UN Security Council as Bamako accuses Algiers of spreading terrorist propaganda.

This accusation comes after a statement from rebel groups in northern Mali, which was echoed by the Algerian representative at the UN. He accused the Malian army of carrying out an airstrike in Tinzaouatène, in the north of the country, resulting in about twenty civilian deaths.

This  latest incident highlights the increasingly strained diplomatic relations between Bamako and Algiers.
