Following the acquittal of Liberian former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott of murder charges by the Supreme Court of Liberia, the government has announced plans to pursue the actual killers of the late Charlortte Musu.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Liberia overturned the verdict of the lower court, which sentenced the former Chief Justice and three of her relatives to death in connection to their alleged role in the death of Charlotte Musu.

Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah stated that the government is keen on identifying the killers, and an arrest warrant will soon be issued for the suspected individuals.

Meanwhile, one of the prosecutors in the case, Counselor Bobby Livingstone, criticized the high court’s ruling, arguing that it clearly indicates that circumstantial evidence can no longer be utilized under Liberian law.

Additionally, Jefferson Knight, head of the United Methodist Human Rights Monitor, remarked that the Supreme Court’s ruling has revealed some of the numerous challenges confronting the country’s judicial system.
