The Ghana Water Company Limited has warned of dire water supply challenges in the country particularly in the central region if ongoing illegal mining popularly known as galamsey is not immediately halted.
In a statement released by the water company, pollution of the Pra River has significantly reduced water intake to the barest minimum thereby affecting water treatment and production for commercial use.
The statement further entreated all interest groups to join the fight against galamsey on the said river and across the country.
