In Cote d’Ivoire, 6 confirmed non-fatal cases of monkeypox were detected during the month of July.

This was contained in information given by the Director General of the National Institute of Public Hygiene (INHP) at a press conference yesterday Thursday.

Monkeypox or monkeypox virus infection is a viral infectious disease transmitted by contact with the blood or bodily fluids of infected people or animals.

According to WADR’s Abidjan correspondent, Albain Ade, of the six confirmed cases, 4 were recorded in the Yopougon health district while the Tabou and Koumassi health districts each recorded 1 case.

He adds that these cases have been treated and their clinical evolution determined as favorable.

Cote d’Ivoire has, meanwhile, put in place public health measures to prevent the spread of the disease, with the Ivorian government deciding to strengthen infection prevention and control measures in health establishments, as well as the development of a multi-sectoral plan to combat it.

As a reminder, the most common symptoms of the disease are fever, headaches, muscle and back pain, intense fatigue and swollen lymph nodes.
