Ameth Suzanne Camara, a leader of the former ruling party Alliance for the Republic of former President Macky Sall, has been arrested.
He was detained by officers of the Urban Security for insulting the head of state, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
The insult was reportedly directed at the Senegalese president during the program “Ultimatum”.
The arrest of Ameth Camara was ordered by the public prosecutor in charge of the case.
He is suspected of offending the high authorities of the Republic and is believed to be placed in police custody after his interrogation.
This arrest has sparked controversy among public opinion, particularly within the camp of the former president, MackySall, who is now in the opposition.
