A group of lawyers in Liberia have come in sharp defense of one of their fellow lawyers—Cllr. Jonathan Massaquoi who was recently appointed by President Joseph Boakai to spearhead efforts aimed at establishing a war and economic crimes court as Executive Director.
So far, a group of Civil Society actors under the banner—Coalition for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia, and the human rights community have rejected the appointment, urging the President to withdraw the nomination, citing an alleged conflict of interest as their reliance.
