In Benin, the Baccalaureate Office has announced that certain candidates will not be able to participate in the BAC 2024 exams, which begins today, due to their affiliation with unauthorized establishments and incomplete profiles.

According to Taïrou Kora Mora, Director of the Technical Organization of the BAC, these unauthorized establishments are ghost institutions that exist only on paper.

He revealed that neither have ever applied to train students nor taught classes, or provided any educational services but still manage to collect files of free candidates and present them as their own.

This practice, known as “subcontracting at the Baccalaureate Office,” is a major concern for the authorities.

Additionally, some candidates have submitted files without meeting the required profile. To be eligible, candidates must have completed their final year at least once and provide proof, such as a transcript or school certificate.

Candidates who fall into either of these categories will not be able to present themselves at the composition centers starting from Monday, June 17, 2024. The authorities say the files of the affected candidates have been centralized and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by a special commission.
