In 2017, when the Boko Haram insurgency was at its peak, education generally and particularly Girl-Child education suffered setbacks.
The insurgents targeted young girls of school age in their schools and homes to discourage the education of the girl child.
As a way of intervention, a nongovernmental organization developed an initiative tagged “Lafiya Sarari Education Initiative”. The project targeted 100 young girls who had never had a chance at school before then and provided a safe, accelerated learning
environment that is now yielding positive results.
Today, our guests are three beneficiaries of this laudable initiative in Maiduguri town, capital of Borno State, North Eastern Nigeria – Fatima Babagana, Fatima Abubakar, and Haruna Dauda Hassan.
