The Ghana Armed Forces has cautioned against attacks on its men deployed to tackle illegal mining in the country.
The caution comes in the wake comments made by Ernest Frimpong, the New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for Amenfi East in Ghana’s Western Region, to the effect that miners were free to retaliate or attack soldiers who attempt to stop them from mining.
His comments have been widely condemned, with increasing calls from a section of the public for his arrest.
