The Nigeria tripartite committee on the minimum wage late Monday reached an agreement after their full-blown industrial action paralysed the nation’s economy on Monday.
The emergency meeting chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, had in attendance representatives from the National Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress.
Recall that the unions are demanding a raise in the minimum wage from 30,000 naira or 22 dollars to 494,000 naira equivalent to 369 US dollars.
For its part, the government proposed an increase to 60,000 naira or 44 dollars which the unions rejected
