Senegal under President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is taking the first steps towards national reconciliation.

At a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, Diomaye Faye reaffirmed his commitment to promoting national cohesion.

To achieve this, the Presidency has instructed the creation of a commission to compensate victims of the deadly demonstrations between January 2021 and February 2024.

Amnesty International Senegal has also published its annual report on the human rights situation in 2023.
