The United Nations Human Rights Commission is calling on Mali to ensure accountability in the country.
In a media briefing on Tuesday, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said the human rights situation in Mali remains very worrying, with violations and abuses almost doubling in 2023, compared to 2022.
According to him, these increases coincided with the resumption of hostilities between the security forces and armed groups, following the withdrawal of MINUSMA.
The UN diplomat highlighting the development in Senegal appealed to the Senegalese Government to ensure that the proposed national dialogue by President Macky Sall includes genuine participation by people of all political views.
