Every year on October 15, we observe the International Day of Rural Women, established by the United Nations to highlight the vital contributions of rural women, particularly in agriculture and rural development.
This day recognizes their essential roles in enhancing food security and combating rural poverty.
Despite their significant impact, much of women’s work remains unpaid and unrecognized. In Africa, approximately 62% of women are engaged in agriculture, contributing to around 40% of the total food production labor.
