In Nigeria, 44 individuals have been sentenced to prison terms of up to 30 years with hard labor for financing the jihadist group Boko Haram.
The convictions were announced by the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) over the weekend, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing crackdown on terrorism financing.
According to the NCTC, the trials of 10 other suspects have been postponed to a later date as investigations continue.
The ruling reflects the government’s intensified efforts to dismantle the financial networks sustaining extremist violence in the country.
