At least 33 people have been killed and several others remain unaccounted for following deadly attacks on Gwer West and Apa Local Government Areas of Benue State, Nigeria.
The violence unfolded on Sunday evening in Naka town, Gwer West’s administrative hub, reportedly carried out by suspected herdsmen. Multiple bodies have been recovered, while hundreds of displaced residents are now sheltering in a nearby primary school.
The attack comes just days after 14 female traders were abducted along Owukpa Road in a separate incident, further highlighting the growing insecurity in the region. Local journalist Theophilus Samber has been tracking the situation as it develops.
