Our conversation this week focuses on Nigeria.
Drawing inspiration from the protests in Kenya, some Nigerian youths have finalised plans to hold nationwide protests by next week; a move that has put President Bola Tinubu’s administration in panic mode.
Widespread hunger and insecurity, especially in Northern Nigeria, are the main reasons behind the planned protests.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the governors, traditional rulers and even the Nigeria’s armed forces have warned against Kenya-style violence in protests planned for next week over soaring living costs, with the military saying it would head off “anarchy”.
