The Republican police arrested a 20-year-old Burkinabe for human trafficking. He is said to have gone to this Beninese city to sell a child.

Reports say he tried to sell a young boy of eight (8) but was caught by the police. The events took place in Parakou, a city located in the northern part of Benin.

According to local media reports, the accused was supposed to hand over the boy to a traditional healer for 5 million CFA francs (a little over 8 thousand dollars). They had planned to conclude the deal at the AI ​​Barika bus station but to the great surprise of the alleged seller, it was the police who came to pick him up.

He had apparently been denounced by the healer, the alleged buyer.

The suspect is currently being held in police custody ahead of his appearance before a prosecutor.
