There has been widespread public condemnation in Liberia following violent protests among members of the Vanguard Student Unification Party and the Council of Patriots of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change.

Bloody clashes ensued among the two groups when the student group staged a protest on Independence Day, calling on President George Weah to fix the country and prosecute warlords.
