The United Nations World Food Programme WFP has appealed for funds to provide food and nutrition assistance to over 60,000 refugees in Sudan.
These refugees according WFP, crossed from Ethiopia into eastern Sudan in recent months.
The UN agency further expressed appreciation to the government of Japan for an 800-million-dollar fund to support its work.
The World Food Programme Representative and Country Director in Sudan – Hammed Nuru said the contribution from Japan comes at a critical time as the humanitarian situation at the border area remains dire.
