In Ghana, Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has hinted at pursuing a review of the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss his injunction application against the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
The 3–2 majority ruling was handed down by a five-member panel chaired by Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie. Assafuah has expressed his reservations and says he will wait for the full judgment, expected on May 21, before deciding whether to proceed.
This development adds another layer to the growing controversy over the Chief Justice’s suspension and its implications for judicial independence.
