The United Nations office for Humanitarian affairs says the ongoing conflict in Nigeria’s northeast remains the key driver of increased humanitarian needs in the region.
On Tuesday, the humanitarian community and the Government of Nigeria, officially launched the north-east Nigeria Humanitarian Response Plan for 2021 – with a financial scale of 1billion dollars.
According to the UN office, the longstanding insecurity and violence, compounded by climate change and the impact of covid19 are increasing the vulnerability of nearly nine million people.
Already, close to 2 million others have been displaced.
