The United States has sanctioned four Colombian individuals and four companies for their role in recruiting mercenaries for Sudan.
Recall in early September, authorities in Port Sudan wrote to the President of the United Nations Security Council to denounce this Colombian network, which the United Arab Emirates finances, the Sudanese army claims for the benefit of the Rapid Support Forces.
According to the US Treasury, this mercenary network revolves around Alvaro Andres Quijano Becerra, a former Colombian soldier and founder of the company A4SI , which recruits former Colombian soldiers for missions in Sudan. Alvaro Andres Quijano Becerra resides in the United Arab Emirates.
