More than two months after the July 26 coup in Niger, The United States government says it takes note of the ousting of President Mohammed Bazoum.

The statement by the State Department was communicated by the US Embassy in Niamey on Tuesday.

Matthew Miller Spokerson for the US State Department stated that his government has concluded that a military coup has occurred in Niger.

This acknowledgement is coming at a heavy cost for the coup state that last Friday announced a 40 per cent budget cut due to economic sanctions.

Oge Obierika has more in this report.
