The United nations has called for the protection of civilians in the Sahel.
The call comes eleven days after armed groups carried out one of the deadliest attacks ever on three villages near the western Niger town of Tillia.
UNHCR in a statement Thursday, says six refugees from nearby Mali were among the 137 people killed on March 21 by assailants on motorbikes.
