A joint UN and ECOWAS high-level mission has concluded its consultations in Guinea-Bissau after a week of discussions with political stakeholders over electoral disputes.
The mission aimed to support consensus-building for peaceful elections in 2025 and presented a draft agreement for a political roadmap. It met with President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and commended stakeholders’ commitment to dialogue.
However, the mission left on March 1 following threats by President Embaló to expel it. It urged all parties to maintain peace and stability as discussions continue.
