A unit of the Beninese Armed Forces came under attack on Thursday when the patrol van drove on an improvised explosive device near the country’s shared border with Burkina Faso. 

According to a security source, one soldier died on the spot while the second died after his evacuation.

The army is however silent on the number of casualties from the recent suspected jihadist attack.
