An international human rights organization, Trial International, says the indictment of former Gambian Interior Minister Ousman Sonko by Swiss prosecutors is a big sign of hope for victims of human rights abuses in The Gambia.
This is coming after the Switzerland Attorney General’s office filed an indictment against Sonko for crimes against humanity committed under former authoritarian leader Yahya Jammeh.
The Swiss-based organization believes that the trial will assist the transitional justice process in the Gambia.
Trial International Lawyer Benoit Meystre speaks to West Africa Democracy Radio on this development.
