The arrest of Togolese cyber-activist Sitsopé Sokpor, widely known as “Affectio,” on January 12, 2025, has sparked widespread reactions from political leaders and human rights groups.
Allegations suggest that Sokpor was apprehended in a manner resembling a kidnapping, with authorities reportedly setting a trap to detain him.
Initially held at the national gendarmerie headquarters in Djidjolé, Lomé, he was later brought before an investigating judge on January 14, fueling calls for transparency and due process.
Advocates demand justice, arguing that the case highlights concerns about freedom of expression and the treatment of dissenting voices in Togo.
