The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, MINUSMA, says Three peacekeepers were injured on Sunday in the northern region of the country when their vehicle hit a mine between Ber and Timbuktu.

MINUSMA did not specify the nationality of the injured, nor the seriousness of their injuries. 

Jihadists who fight any foreign presence as well as state representations regularly attack MINUSMA like the Malian army. 

Mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are the weapons of choice for jihadists. They explode on contact with a wheel or are operated remotely.

Created in 2013 with some 13,000 soldiers, MINUSMA is the deadliest UN peacekeeping mission in the world. More than 175 of its members have died in hostile acts
