Since the violence peaked on Thursday after the sentencing of opposition leader Ousmane Sonko for corrupting youth, deaths and massive destruction have been recorded.
Mamadou Gueye Police Commissioner and head of the police public relations office at a press briefing late Sunday announced 16 people dead, many injured and nearly five hundred others arrested, including foreigners.
He urged the public to report people in possession of small and light weapons after videos emerged suggesting the trend among protesters.
But as Abdullahi Hassan reports, the weekend allowed a bit of normalcy in the lives of many.
