The members of the opposition in the Gambia’s National Assembly staged a walkout from the chambers in protest against the former president’s bill.
The bill, introduced by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice under an urgency certificate during the extraordinary session on Thursday, has triggered controversy due to several contentious clauses.
One such clause stipulates that a former president shall receive the same salary as a sitting president.
