The Gambia vows to prosecute illegal exporters of Rosewood

The Gambia’s Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Rohey John Manjang, says no one involved in the illegal rosewood business will be spared if found wanting.

The minister made the declaration following the interception of large amount of rosewoods recently after a ban was imposed on the business in the Gambia.

The rosewood is believed to be coming from the Senegalese Northern Cassamance region but this could not be established as the police continues to investigate the origin of the intercepted logs which were about to be shipped out of the country.
