The National Assembly of the Gambia has ratified and approved the deployment of its troops to contribute to the ECOWAS stabilization mission in Sierra Leone.

The approval by the parliament followed a heated debate among lawmakers on Tuesday.

This comes following an attempted coup in Sierra Leone last November.
