Today’s edition of Street Parliament takes us to Monrovia, Liberia’s capital. There, Abraham Parker engages a section of Liberians about the current condition of various cemeteries across the city.
As a reminder, Liberia observes Memorial Day on the Second Wednesday of March every year. This national holiday is dedicated to paying respect to the dead by decorating their graves.
According to the report, major burial sites across the capital city, Monrovia, are in a dilapidated state, as disadvantaged youths often break into graves in search of human bones which they use to mix with the drug called Kush and smoke. As a result, many people find it difficult to identify the grave of their deceased loved ones.
