The President of Sierra Leone has arrived in Burkina Faso for a working and friendship visit, indicated the presidency of Faso. His visit is at a time when Ouagadougou, Bamako and Niamey, after having created the Alliance of Sahel States, have announced their departure from ECOWAS.
The President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, personally welcomed his Sierra Leonean counterpart, Julius Maada Bio, to Ouagadougou.
A statement from the presidency said, and I quote, “The two Heads of State will have a working session extended to their delegations, followed by a closed-door meeting between Presidents Traoré and Bio. They will review several issues of common interest related to African unity and the international situation,” end of quote.
The visit will also be an opportunity for the two Heads of State to examine ways and means of strengthening the Ouagadougou-Freetown axis.
