In Sierra Leone, health authorities have launched a nationwide vaccination campaign targeting frontline healthcare workers and individuals at high risk of contracting Mpox.
The drive, which kicked off in the capital Freetown, follows the arrival of 61,300 vaccine doses secured through support from the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to Amanda Clemens, social mobilization coordinator at the Ministry of Health, the campaign will also cover children aged 12 and above, aiming to prevent further spread of the virus.
The vaccination rollout is part of Sierra Leone’s broader public health strategy to protect vulnerable populations and strengthen its response to emerging infectious diseases.
