The debate is raging between the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists and Parliament as to who should select or appoint members to the Parliamentary Press Gallery. 

While Parliament is saying that the Press Gallery is the property of parliament and they should decide who sits on it; SLAJ is saying that such an arrangement would threaten the independence of journalists and undermine democracy.
