Seven Senegalese soldiers were injured in a vehicle accident in Mali on Tuesday.
According to information from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armies (DIRPA) of Senegal, on March 16, 2021 at 10:36 a.m, during a mission to escort a supply convoy, an armored personnel carrier, of the Puma type, overturned at height from the village of Ganido (64 km south-east of Sévaré) following mechanical damage.
The press release indicates that after the first aid provided at the scene of the accident by the unit doctor, three of the slightly injured were able to continue the mission.
The same source adds that the other four wounded were evacuated by helicopter to Sévaré at the level 1 hospital of Detsen 10.
After their admission, one of the injured was retained for on-site treatment while the other three were airlifted to level 2 hospital in Bamako.
The DIRPA affirms that the Minusma has made arrangements for their transfer to the Principal Hospital in Dakar, its reference structure.
The Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces recalls that the Detsen 10, with a staff of 850 soldiers, was deployed in Mali between December 2020 and February 2021 for a period of twelve months.
