Senegal’s extractive industries have posted impressive gains, generating over 236 billion CFA francs in the first half of 2024, according to a new report by the National Committee of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).
The mining sector alone accounted for 80% of this revenue, underscoring its central role in the country’s economic landscape.
This performance is credited with supporting job creation and strengthening public finances, particularly as the government intensifies efforts to leverage natural resources for sustainable development.
The report highlights continued momentum in transparency and sectoral accountability.
