Senegalese President Macky Sall over the weekend pardoned 908 people convicted of various offenses in the country on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of Senegal's independence.
An official statement said that among these pardoned people, 811 people benefited from total remissions of sentences and 63 from partial remissions of sentences.
The statement added that 16 seriously ill, five minors, five convicts over the age of 65 and eight commutations of life in 20 years of criminal imprisonment are also among those pardoned.
